Three huan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The so-called Drei Huan (Chinese: San Huan 三 桓) or three Huan families were three powerful families from the state of Lu in the spring and autumn periods of Chinese history. It concerns the three dignitary families Jisun (季 孙氏), Shusun (叔 孙氏) and Mengsun (孟 孙氏), who had usurped power in the state. All three families traced their origins to Duke Huan von Lu ( Lu Huan gong ; r. 711–693). They are already mentioned in the conversations of Confucius ( Lunyu XVI.3).
