The Trinity Church

The Dreifaltigkeitskirche is the Protestant parish church of the Upper Bavarian municipality of Burgkirchen an der Alz . It was in the years 1960 / 61 on a terrace above the Alztals according to the plans of Munich architect Olaf Andreas Gulbransson as modern built church. The consecration of the church took place on May 28, 1961, Sunday "Trinity" (Latin: Trinity). It was the last the architect attended before his accidental death.

As in many of his other church buildings, Gulbransson uses the play with geometric shapes to realize the program of the church. To implement the reference to the name of the Holy Trinity , he chose an equilateral triangle as the floor plan. The church space is formed by three roof surfaces, also in the form of equilateral triangles, which form a pyramid-like attachment above the building . The design of the interior groups the parish in an open circle around the preacher.

A little separated from the nave, but structurally connected to it, a church tower was erected, which ends with an onion dome typical of the area .
