Dresden is a village in southwestern Ontario , Canada , part of the parish of Chatham-Kent .
Dresden is known as the hometown of Josiah Henson, a former American slave whose life story was likely the inspiration for the novel Uncle Tom's Cabin . Dresden lies on the Sydenham River . The place was named after Dresden ( Free State of Saxony ).
