The Dresden Barockorchester is a chamber orchestra from Dresden founded in 1991 .

history

The orchestra was founded in 1991 by graduates of the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden . Right from the start, playing with baroque instruments and the ideal of a particularly lively style of playing were the focus of music-making. The repertoire covers the Baroque period , with particular attention being paid to composers from the region such as Bach , Hasse , Heinichen and Homilius . The Dresden Baroque Orchestra also performs works by lesser-known composers, especially from Dresden.

The musicians quickly took a firm place in the Dresden music scene. There has been a long-term collaboration with various ensembles, such as the Dresden Chamber Choir and the Dresden Kreuzchor . Tours have taken the orchestra through the most important music centers in Germany and also to Holland, Japan, Austria and Spain.

In addition to its concert activities, the orchestra has also made an appearance through recordings with well-known labels.
