Driver (golf)

The driver , also wooden one called in is golf , a golf club , of the tee is used on longer holes. The driver is therefore a special wood .

With this racket, the greatest distance can be achieved, the flight curve is relatively flat due to the low loft of about 7 ° to 15 ° (depending on the skill of the player).

Externally, the driver is easily recognizable due to the particularly large volume of the club head . The current maximum volume is 460 cm³. Traditionally, driver heads were made of persimmon wood. In the 1980s, the first models made of metal, so-called “metal woods”, appeared. Modern models consist of a mix of materials, including the light metal titanium . A common shaft length is 45 inches, which is about 1.14 meters. This makes the driver the longest club. Because of the materials used for the club head, it is much lighter than the shorter iron clubs.
