The Winterthur printing company was a printing company and a publisher based in Winterthur . It was closed in 2003.
The Winterthur printing company was founded in 1860 and was initially located at Technikumstrasse 81-83 in a representative baroque building built by the architects Bridler and Völki instead of the Rietermühle. The liberal “ Neue Winterthurer Tagblatt ”, which no longer exists today, was relocated from this location . In 1967 the city took over the building to set up offices.
The print shop itself moved to the Grüze industrial area due to lack of space . In 1990 the print shop was completely renewed and the print shop became one of the largest and most modern offset print shops in Europe. The end of the print shop was finally heralded in 2001, when the company was taken over by the Basler Mediengruppe and two years later it was sold to the media company Ringier , which immediately closed the print shop together with prepress company ColorServ AG. A total of 280 of the 380 employees in Winterthur lost their jobs as a result.
