The Duale Hochschule Schleswig-Holstein (DHSH) is a private, state-recognized university for applied sciences sponsored by the Schleswig-Holstein Business Academy . The DHSH offers dual bachelor's degree programs and part-time master’s degree programs at the study locations in Kiel, Lübeck and Flensburg.

The DHSH received state recognition from the state of Schleswig-Holstein on January 1, 2018. The DHSH emerged from the institutional development of the Schleswig-Holstein University of Cooperative Education . The University of Cooperative Education, the predecessor institution of the DHSH, was founded on July 11, 1974 and offered application-oriented, training-integrated bachelor's degree programs. The bachelor's degree courses “Business Administration” and “Business Informatics” were transferred to the DHSH.

The DHSH offers the dual and practice-oriented bachelor's degree courses in business administration and business informatics.

In the three-year bachelor's degree, the theoretical phases at DHSH alternate with practical phases in the company. To this end, the university and its predecessor institutions have been working with a large network of cooperation companies in Schleswig-Holstein and beyond for over 45 years.

In addition to the bachelor’s degree, students can obtain a professional qualification and trainer qualification according to the trainer qualification regulation (AEVO) in the three years at DHSH.

Part-time master’s degree

The DHSH is expanding its range of courses with the introduction of the first Master’s degree in Digital Business & Innovation from April 2020. The new and first master’s course of the dual university is offered part-time at the study location Kiel. The course content will prepare students for management positions in the areas of business development , strategy and strategic innovation . The DHSH thus offers students the opportunity to pursue a continuous degree up to and including a master’s degree.

The master’s degree lasts four (90 ECTS) or five semesters (120 ECTS) and is structured through online modules and self-study phases so that professional life can be optimally combined with studies.

The central element of the Master’s degree in Digital Business & Innovation is the implementation of project-oriented modules in the DHSH Innovation Lab, which is currently under construction and will be maintained in cooperation with well-known companies in the region.

Partner universities

The DHSH offers students the opportunity to participate in international exchange programs in cooperation with the Lillebaelt Academy University of Applied Sciences and the Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT).

Application and admission process

The bachelor’s degree courses begin on October 1st. Those interested can apply to one of the DHSH partner companies. If the applicant receives an acceptance from the company, the DHSH checks the admission. The master’s program begins on April 1st and the application deadline is February 1st of each year.

Former students from all disciplines as well as friends and sponsors of the university are linked by a non-profit alumni network.
