history

Foundation and development

Business Academy Flensburg

In order to ensure qualified young talent for the state of Schleswig-Holstein, the entrepreneur Hans-Detlev Prien and the later Landesbank director Wilhelm Ehlers gave the impetus to found an association that deals exclusively with the task of training and further education. This idea found the willingness to support many companies in the country. In 1967, with the participation of representatives from Schleswig-Holstein companies and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the association was founded - initially as a support association for the higher business school, whose sponsorship was taken over in full the following year. The offer was expanded to include training and further education events. As part of a nationwide reorientation in education, the Higher Business School was awarded the status of a state-recognized university of applied sciences in the field of business administration . Two years later, the state took over this branch and integrated it into the state university of applied sciences in Kiel. The registered association was renamed the Wirtschaftsakademie Schleswig-Holstein. In addition to training and further education, a state-recognized technical college for business administration was founded, which was also established in Lübeck in 1973 and in Flensburg a year later. In 1974 the business academy of the business academy was established, from which the Dual University Schleswig-Holstein (DHSH) emerged in 2018.

Inter-company training center

The inter-company training center (ÜAZ) Elmshorn was founded in 1974 as an "outsourced company training workshop". The ÜAZ should bring trainees up to date with the latest technology, train them in the electrical and metal sector and enable further training for employees and trainers. Later, the vocational preparation and the areas of CNC, PLC, CAD and microelectronics were added.

Expansion and merger

Both the business academy and the ÜAZ expanded their areas of education and training in the following years. There was a close cooperation with the employment offices of the time and the vocational advancement services of the Bundeswehr. The demand for recognized further education qualifications increased, so that the offer with IHK qualifications was constantly expanded. In the early 1980s, the business academy positioned a national and international project area. The continuous expansion of the offer was accompanied by a spatial expansion in Schleswig-Holstein. The steady expansion of the business academy required a change in the legal form: in 1988 the registered association became an association by virtue of state awards. In 2004, the Schleswig-Holstein Business Academy merged with the inter-company training center in Elmshorn, and at the same time it was converted into the legal form of a limited liability company .
