The iba - Internationale Berufsakademie is Germany's largest state-recognized professional academy in the tertiary education sector that offers dual bachelor's degree courses. The English-language name is University of Cooperative Education .

history

Iba was founded in 2006 by Hans-Dieter Sauer as a cooperation between the F + U group of companies and the BA North Hesse . It is part of the F + U group of companies , which has over 40 years of experience in the education sector. Initially, the dual study started at the iba study locations in Darmstadt, Erfurt and Heidelberg. In 2019, iba is represented with 3,300 students at twelve study locations.

Recognition and accreditation

The iba - International Vocational Academy of the F + U Unternehmensgruppe gGmbH is based in Darmstadt .

It is a private professional academy based on the Hessian law on the state recognition of professional academies . It is officially recognized throughout Germany for an unlimited period and is subject to the supervision of the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art (HMWK).

The dual Bachelor courses in Business Administration and Business Administration with intercultural qualifications ( Bachelor of Arts , BA) and Engineering & Management (formerly Industrial Engineering ) ( Bachelor of Engineering , B.Eng.) Are regularly accredited by the Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (ZeVA). The dual bachelor's degree programs in Social Education & Management (Bachelor of Arts, BA) and Social Education, Management & Business Coaching (Bachelor of Arts, BA) as well as Physiotherapy ( Bachelor of Science , B.Sc.) and Applied Therapy Sciences - focus on occupational therapy (Bachelor of Science, B.Sc.) are regularly accredited by the accreditation agency in the field of health and social affairs (AHPGS).

Study model

The dual study program at iba combines theoretical lessons and practical experience in the innovative model of the shared week. For the students this means two fixed study days at iba and a maximum of three practical days in the company.

The study model received the Willy Scharnow Prize 2009 from the Willy Scharnow Foundation for Tourism for the field of hotel and tourism management in the business administration course .

In the business administration course with intercultural qualifications, the language focus is English or Spanish. This includes additional intensive language training including a two-week stay in English or Spanish-speaking countries.

degrees

The courses and degrees of iba are accredited and state recognized. The bachelor degrees of iba are legally equivalent to those at universities and qualify for a demanding professional activity as well as for a master’s degree at a German or international college or university. Graduates of iba have e.g. B. the opportunity to complete a postgraduate master’s degree at the iba partner university, University of Economics, Technology and Culture .

Iba awards the following qualifications:

  • Business administration and business administration with intercultural qualifications: Bachelor of Arts (BA); IHK exam possible under certain conditions.
  • Social Pedagogy & Management: Bachelor of Arts (BA); State recognized social pedagogue, social worker according to Hessian state law. (This qualification is expressly recognized at the places of study in Darmstadt, Erfurt, Kassel, Munich, Nuremberg and Berlin by notification of the relevant federal state. At the other places of study, you also acquire the qualification of state-recognized social pedagogue, social worker on the basis of Hessian law of the degree is always based on the respective state legal provisions in all federal states.)
In the course of study Social Pedagogy, Management & Business Coaching you also acquire the qualification "Junior Coach" (this is recognized by the German Federal Association of Coaching eV (DBVC) and corresponds to the DBVC further training guidelines; enables the application for membership as an Associate Coach at the DBVC) .

Admission requirements

One of the following degrees:

  • General higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, technical college entrance qualification
  • Master's examination, business administrator
  • Completed training (e.g. state-recognized educator)

There is currently no numerus clausus.

Financing and remuneration

The tuition fees vary depending on the course and are usually covered by the practice partner. There are no separate admission and examination fees. In addition, students receive remuneration from their practice partner; the amount of the remuneration is individually agreed between the student and the company.

Practice companies

More than 2,000 practice partners across Germany train qualified junior staff in cooperation with iba. These include successful medium-sized companies and institutions as well as global companies from various industries.
