The Saxony University of Cooperative Education with its seven study academies in Bautzen, Breitenbrunn, Dresden, Glauchau, Leipzig as well as Plauen and Riesa offers a three-year dual study program in the fields of business, technology and social and health care in over 40 courses. The 4,500 students are prepared for a professional activity both in the study academies and at the respective practice partners. After a successful three-year course, the Free State of Saxony awards a recognized “Bachelor” degree. This is on an equal footing with the bachelor's degree from a university in every respect.

The placement rate of graduates is above average at over 90 percent. Afterwards, the graduates have the opportunity to take up a master’s degree at a university, provided that the relevant entry requirements are met.

The first State Study Academy in Dresden was founded in 1991.

The Sachsen Berufsakademie was reformed by the Saxon Professional Academy Act of June 9, 2017. The seven locations are now state study academies within the Berufsakademie Sachsen and continue to be - like all professional academies - educational institutions of the tertiary sector. In the current coalition agreement between the CDU, the Greens and the SPD, the further development of the Saxony University of Cooperative Education into a dual university is announced.

The central office with the rectorate and the chancellery is located at the Glauchau State Study Academy . The current management consists of the President Andreas Hänsel, the Chancellor Matthias Rößler and the directors of the state study academies. Together you form the directors' conference and lead the professional academy.

Locations

Each location of the Berufsakademie Sachsen has its own board of directors and its own range of courses. The offers are divided hierarchically into fields of study, courses and fields of study. Despite the large overlap in the study areas, each location has its own profile and its own undergraduate bachelor 's courses .
