The European Study Academy for Cold, Air Conditioning and Ventilation (ESaK) has been training Dipl.-Ing. (BA) refrigeration system technology and Dipl.-Ing. (BA) climate system technology . In the meantime, the company has switched to a Bachelor of Science degree in the fields of refrigeration and air conditioning. ESaK is based in Maintal near Frankfurt am Main and offers a nationwide training program with its courses.

General

In addition to universities and technical colleges , vocational academies are educational institutions in the higher education sector with a strong practical orientation that is implemented through a dual course of study. During their six-semester studies, half of the students at the European Study Academy for Cold, Air-Conditioning and Ventilation work at the University of Cooperative Education and the other half with a so-called practice partner. The students are familiarized with the industry and company-specific environment at an early stage and are prepared for the special requirements in their company during their studies. ESaK is sponsored by the state guild of refrigeration and air conditioning technology in Hessen-Thuringia / Baden-Württemberg.

Course of studies

The theoretical phases consist of lectures in the fields of technology and economics . Other events, such as English and project management, round off the course content. Each theoretical phase ends with exams. In the practical phases, the students work with the practice partner in selected functional areas. The students write practical reports on these phases. The theoretical phase of the 4th semester concludes the basic course. Students have to pass exams in the core subjects of refrigeration and air conditioning technology and economics . Together with the assistant's work done in the company, these form the intermediate examination. Passing the intermediate examination is also the qualification as a refrigeration and air conditioning system technology assistant (BA). In the basic course, all students take subjects from the following subject areas:

  • Mathematics: Lin. Algebra, logic, analysis, stochastics, numerics; English
  • Thermodynamics and Engineering Mechanics
  • Process of refrigeration and components of refrigeration and air conditioning technology
  • Basics of air conditioning
  • Operating and auxiliary materials
  • Electrical engineering, measurement, control and regulation technology
  • Basics of information technology, CAD applications
  • Law; BGB, commercial and company law, data law, copyright / license law
  • General Business administration: accounting, cost and performance accounting, investment and decision theory, operational Tax theory
  • Methodical and social skills: presentation and work techniques, self and time management, project management, work motivation and leadership

The fifth and sixth theoretical phase in the 5th and 6th semester impart the knowledge required to work independently on projects. The range of courses at the University of Cooperative Education offers students the opportunity to specialize in current elective subjects. In the fifth practical phase, a student project must be completed. This task should be created from the professional environment of the thesis . The preparation of the diploma thesis takes place in the sixth practical phase and concludes the course. In the advanced study there is a differentiation according to the major and the field of study. Among other things, content from the following areas is offered:

During the three-year study period, the students will get to know their company with its specific objectives and its employees in the practical phases. In addition to the necessary professional qualifications, students also acquire social skills . In fulfilling the task of qualifying the students for the profession, the place of learning for practice (companies) and theory, mediated by the vocational academy, complement each other.

entry requirements

For admission to the studies (BA) at the European Study Academy for Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Ventilation in Maintal, a high school diploma or technical college entrance qualification is required. Other access qualifications (e.g. master craftsman / technician) are also permitted under certain conditions.
