The Hessische Berufsakademie is a private, state-recognized professional academy in Hessen that offers dual courses of study. The degrees of the bachelor’s degree courses at the Hessian University of Cooperative Education are legally equivalent to the bachelor’s degrees that can be obtained at the state universities of the state.

History and organization

The Hessian Vocational Academy is part of the non-profit foundation BildungsCentrum der Wirtschaft. The private professional academy was founded in 1990 by business associations as an alternative to university studies.

Dual courses of study for high school graduates or technical high school graduates and courses for working people with professional development are the focus of the Hessian University of Cooperative Education (BA). With their practical work experience and the theoretical knowledge from the practice-oriented bachelor's degree programs, BA graduates in business are available as young managers.

The Board of Trustees is a superordinate body of the Hessian BA. It participates in decisions about the development of the Berufsakademie and all questions of fundamental importance that concern it. Members of the Board of Trustees are representatives of the responsible Chamber of Commerce and Industry, employers and employee organizations, the companies involved in the training, the teaching staff at the University of Cooperative Education and the students.

The academy council regulates all fundamental organizational and content-related questions of studying at the vocational academy. It meets regularly, but at least once a year. Members of the academy council are the director of studies of the study locations, head of the academy administration, representatives of the lecturers for each study location, representatives of the companies for each study location and representatives of the students for each degree program

The course management is carried out by Andreas Goldschmidt and Thomas Bürkle.
