Dualphone

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A dual phone or dual phone is a combination device for private voice and data communication at home or on the go via landline , cellular network or hotspot .

At home, calls are made using a wireless connection ( DECT , WLAN or Bluetooth ) via the landline or DSL connection. On the go, the dual phone becomes a mobile phone and is thus integrated into the conventional mobile network (e.g. GSM or UMTS ). The dualphone user only has one voicebox and receives only one invoice.

When using WLAN technology, the user can also make calls in the catchment area of public WLANs, so-called hotspots . Within such networks, the voice connection takes place via Voice-over-IP .

Dualphones are the first step towards the convergence of fixed and mobile networks ( Fixed Mobile Convergence ). Worldwide standards for dualphones are being developed in the Fixed-Mobile Convergence Alliance .
