Dubai drydocks

The Dubai Drydocks are a shipyard located southeast of the Port Rashid harbor in Dubai , United Arab Emirates and operated by Drydocks World . In 1971 the first plans for a larger shipyard were made, which were implemented from the end of the 1970s. In 1983 the first part of the shipyard was opened. Today around 3,500 people work at the shipyard; the majority of these workers come from India , Bangladesh or Pakistan . It is both a construction and a repair yard which, according to its own information, moves 400 ships per year, mostly tankers over 200,000 tons of the VLCC and ULCC classes . The Dubai Drydocks is the largest shipyard in the Persian Gulf .
