Dubai Shopping Festival
The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF; Arabic مهرجان دبي للتسوق, DMG Mihraǧān Dubayy li-t-tasawwuq ) is an event that has been held annually in Dubai since February 15, 1996 in order to liven up the retail sector .
In the meantime this event has developed into a tourist attraction that lasts for a month; depending on the Ramadan date between the end of January and March. In 2003 the festival was visited by 2.9 million people.
During the Dubai Shopping Festival, the shops offer discounts ; Cars are raffled off every day , and fireworks light up the Dubai night sky. This commercial festival helped give the city the nickname Do buy! (In German: purchase! ) Carries.
