Dublab

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dublab is a non-commercial public broadcast internet radio based in Los Angeles . Founded in 1999, the project has been involved in a number of record releases, art promotions and other public events. The name is a portmanteau word from dubbing (mixing) and laboratory (laboratory) and is intended to describe the importance of the Dublab as a place for experimenting with sound technology .

The programs are streamed using Shoutcast . A collective of around 30 DJs - including artists like The Gaslamp Killer as a regular DJ and Thomas Fehlmann as a guest DJ - each produces 2-hour shows five days a week. Twice a year, live broadcasts are carried out for four weeks to raise funds; this time is known as "Proton Drive".

In 2016, the station entered into a cooperation with the Thuringian microphone manufacturer Microtech Gefell and has been equipping its studios in Los Angeles with these microphones since then.
