Dude

The term dude describes a typical North American city dweller, later especially from the European east coast.

From this are derived:

  • a colloquial form of address for a person, preferably male, especially in pop and surfing culture (female form often fellow )
  • an affective exclamation of displeasure, corresponds to the German age! or man!
