Dull cheek

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dull cheek is a derogatory term for a stupid or naive person who also lacks empathy and a sense of reality. The Duden names a "foolish, simple-minded person" as the meaning.

The vilification gained notoriety in 1968 with the successful film To the point, sweetheart ; the script was written jointly by leading actor Werner Enke and director May Spils .

In the 1990s, the term was popularized by the German-language dubbing of the US television series A Terrible Nice Family ; here daughter Kelly Bundy is dubbed that by her father Al (in the original pumpkin , literally "pumpkin", which is not offensive and means something like "little mouse" or "treasure").
