Dungeons & Dragons is a studio album by Midnight Syndicate , which was released on August 12, 2003 by Entity Productions . It serves as the soundtrack for the role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons and was created in cooperation with Wizards of the Coast - the rights holder of Dungeons & Dragons. Midnight Syndicate met game designers from Dungeons & Dragons at a video game show where she was commissioned to produce the album.
background
After a meeting with Wizards of the Coast, Edward Douglas and Gavin Goszka, the two members of Midnight Syndicate, were commissioned to write and produce the album independently. Both produced the individual songs independently, but met to mix the album. The album marked a big change in style for Midnight Syndicate as previous work by the band was largely horror-based while Dungeons & Dragons took on a fantasy-based vibe. The album insert artwork came from Dungeon & Dragons rulebooks and featured works by famous game designers such as Skip Williams. The album received mostly positive feedback from music critics as well as from the fan community. It is often referred to as the only official soundtrack album.
