Dunsapie Loch is a small artificial freshwater lake in the Scottish Lowlands. It is located in the city of Edinburgh in the east part of Holyrood Park between Arthur's Seat and Dunsapie Hill . Directly on the west bank of the lake is Queen's Drive and a car park, making Dunsapie Loch easy to reach from Edinburgh.
The lake has a slightly curved shape and is about 200 m long and about 60 m wide. It is about 110 m above sea level. The lake has existed since 1844 and was created during the construction work for Queen's Drive. Despite its artificial origin, numerous wild birds such as gray geese , mute swans , mallards and coots have settled at Dunsapie Loch. In the lake there is a floating island that serves as a breeding ground.
