Flow racks are shelves that can be loaded from a shelf side with goods in containers or on pallets, while can be removed again from the other side of the previously stored goods.

The stored goods are brought to the storage area by machines or people and from there, with the help of drive elements or by gravity, they move independently within the shelf to the removal area.

This dynamic storage system works according to the FIFO principle (first in, first out) and thus enables a high level of space utilization, an optimal filling level, independent storage and removal. This shelving system is also well suited for picking products. A flow rack can increase the picking performance (quantity per hour) according to the "goods to man" principle.

Roller tracks or support rollers with drive motors are used as drive elements, while gravity conveyors such as roller tracks , ball tracks or rail tracks are used without a drive . Flow racks are particularly suitable for large quantities per item with a small assortment size .
