Dussumier Hanuman Langur

As southern plains gray langur ( Semnopithecus dussumieri ) was formerly a living in the northwestern and western India primate called. Today the species is no longer considered valid and the langur population in northwestern and western India is divided into two species:

  • Bengali Hanuman langur ( Semnopithecus entellus ) includes all langurs of the north Indian lowlands
  • Black-footed Hanuman langur ( Semnopithecus hypoleucos ) includes the langurs of the Western Ghats and the western Deccan Plateau and thus also two subspecies ( S. h. Achates ( syn .: S. dussumieri achates ) and S. h. Iulus (syn .: S . dussumieri iulus )), which were originally assigned to the Dussumier-Hanuman langur.
