Dutch Blues Foundation

The Dutch Blues Foundation ( Dutch : Stichting Blues Nederland ; German: Dutch Blues Foundation ) was founded in 2009 to promote blues music and blues musicians. The foundation wants to offer talented blues musicians a stage and contribute to the recognition of the blues in the Netherlands . The foundation's activities include the establishment of a Dutch Blues Hall of Fame, the annual organization of a Dutch Blues Challenge and the annual presentation of the Dutch Blues Awards .

Dutch Blues Hall of Fame

The Dutch Blues Foundation names personalities to the Hall of Fame every year without pre-selection. The prerequisite is that the person has made a contribution to the blues in the Netherlands through performances, recordings or documentaries.

The following were inducted into the Dutch Blues Hall of Fame:

  • 2011: Oscar Benton and Harry Muskee
  • 2012: Barrelhouse (band) and Rob Hoeke (posthumous)
  • 2013: Martin van Olderen (posthumous)
  • 2014: Livin 'Blues (band)
  • 2015: Eelco Gelling and Flavium (band)
  • 2016: Jaap Hindriks

Dutch Blues Challenge

Every year bands and solo artists or duos can take part in the competition. A jury will evaluate the 20-minute performance. The Dutch Blues Foundation is affiliated with the US Blues Foundation ; therefore the winners of the Dutch Blues Challenge can take part in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis , which is also held every year . The winning band can also take part in the European Blues Challenge.

Dutch Blues Awards

The Dutch Blues Awards are a Dutch blues award that has been presented annually since 2010. The Dutch Blues Awards are given in the categories Dutch Blues Band, Dutch Blues Artist, Dutch Blues CD and Keepin the Blues Alive.
