The Dynamic Information and Action Gateway (DIAG) is a proprietary protocol from SAP AG, which is used for communication between the SAP GUI and the application server of a SAP system. The SAP Internet Transaction Server also uses this protocol to communicate with the R / 3 System .

Internally, the proprietary DIAG protocol is based on the SAP Remote Function Call . This is to be assigned to layers 5 and 6 of the OSI model .

Binary data are transmitted with DIAG . However, this is not an encryption , but DIAG uses methods for data compression .
