SAP Internet Transaction Server

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The SAP Internet Transaction Server (ITS) is used to display graphical application interfaces as HTML pages. This means that the user only needs a web browser instead of special software such as the SAP GUI . Both SAP -own and from the user self-developed applications can be operated by means of the ITS.

Usage examples

  • SAPGUI for HTML (webgui), the SAP GUI user interface using HTML and JavaScript , which allows the operation of almost all transactions implemented in ABAP in a SAP system
  • Information systems for customers, suppliers or employees of a company
  • Online ordering systems, web shops

variants

Stand-alone ITS

  • Can run as a client up to and including SAP Basis / SAP Web Application Server 6.40
  • It consists of two components that are largely separate from each other and from the SAP system ( SAP Web AS ) behind it :
    • a W-Gate that runs as an extension of a web server (e.g. Apache, IIS from Microsoft)
    • an A-Gate that communicates with a SAP Web AS (including using SAP's own DIAG protocol)
  • Linux and Microsoft Windows are supported
  • Application logic and data storage usually completely in the SAP Web AS

Integrated ITS

  • from SAP Basis / Web AS 6.40 ( SAP NetWeaver '04)
  • The functions of the ITS are now completely provided by the SAP Web AS ABAP (with the exception of some interfaces whose support has generally been discontinued); This means that the ITS can be used on a large number of operating systems and is no longer a separate component.
  • The scope of functions and application areas clearly overlap with the formatting functions of the SAP Web AS Java , which is technically completely separate and uses different methods internally.
