John K. Lattimer
John Kingsley Lattimer (born October 14, 1914 in Mount Clemens , Michigan , † May 10, 2007 in Englewood , New Jersey ) was an American medic.
Life
Lattimer served in the US Army during World War II , particularly as a surgeon in the invasion of Normandy . He was later stationed in Munich and treated National Socialist politicians such as Hermann Göring and Albert Speer during the Nuremberg trials .
John K. Lattimer was a professor and long-time dean of the Department of Urology at Columbia University , New York City, for 25 years . He has published over 375 scientific papers and articles. He represented the USA in the World Health Organization .
He also made a name for himself as an expert in ballistics . In 1972 he was hired by the Kennedy family as a non-government expert to investigate the assassination attempt on John F. Kennedy .
He converted his 30-room house in Englewood into a military museum, with weapons from various eras and paintings by Adolf Hitler .
He was a knight of the Order of Malta .
