EADS DO-DT 25 carrier

The Do-DT 55 is a target display drone manufactured by EADS . It represents the target to be fought in air defense training .

In 2003, the German Air Force requested a drone to be used to simulate an ARMS (Anti Radiation Missile System, e.g. AGM-88 HARM or ALARM ). EADS started with a concept study that led to the Do-DT 55 ARMS. The concept was to start the Do-DT 55 in flight. A Do-DT 25 should serve as a carrier for the Do-DT 55. The Do-DT 55 should be attached to the Do-DT 25 by means of a carrier and be brought into the air together with it by catapult launch. In the air, the team flies into the designated airspace. There the Do-DT 55 is released and flies towards its programmed target. The construction of the Do-DT 55 made use of modules that were already used in the Do-DT 25/35. It has a bullet-shaped fuselage with small stubby wings. The engine is housed in the fuselage. A maximum speed of 450 kts (225 m / s = approx. 810 km / h) can be achieved. In December 2004 the Do-DT 55 was qualified.
