The EHC Dürnten Vikings , founded in 1957 as EHC Dürnten , is a Swiss ice hockey club from Dürnten in the canton of Zurich and plays in the fourth division since 1971 2. League .

history

The EHC Dürnten was founded on November 25, 1957 in the Bahnhof restaurant in Dürnten and initially played on its own natural ice rink in Dürnten. At the beginning of the 1960s, the championship games began to be played in Wetzikon . The greatest success of the EHC Dürnten was the promotion to the 1st league in the 1967/68 season and the title win in the 2nd league Swiss championship round 2018/19, which was held for the first time. In the first division, however, you could only hold out for one season and have been playing in the second division since relegation. 1981-1994 and 2002-2013 played a second team in the 3rd and 4th league.

In 2011 the EHC Dürnten merged with the EHC Bäretswil and became the EHC Dürnten Vikings. The merger caused some turmoil that almost led to bankruptcy. Thanks to the former player and long-time member Urs Reiser, the club was finally saved. Since the merger, the home games have taken place in the Bäretswil ice rink. The ice rink is located in the Schürli district, which is also known as the Schürlihalle.

Fans

In 2013, supporters of the club founded the Schürlikurve 13 fan club. In 2014, the Hägar-Club donor club was founded, in which current and former players are also represented.
