ICE PACK

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

EISPACK is a program library in numerical linear algebra (calculation of eigenvalues and eigenvectors of matrices), which was compiled from 1972 to 1973 at the Argonne National Laboratory under the direction of Brian T. Smith . The library is written in Fortran and has been freely available from the start. The starting point were algorithms originally written in ALGOL by James H. Wilkinson . Also involved in the development of EISPACK was Jack Dongarra , who was still a student at the time and later played a major role in the development of LINPACK and LAPACK , the successors of EISPACK for more advanced computer architectures.
