EKS 1 ( Russian Единая космическая система 1 Unified Space System 1 , also Kosmos-2510 ) is an early warning satellite from Russia.

He was born on November 17, 2015 at 6:34 UTC with a 2-1B Soyuz carrier rocket from the rocket launch site Plesetsk placed in a highly elliptical orbit.

The three-axis stabilized satellites of this type (also called Tundra) are intended to replace the old satellites of the Oko series. A single EKS satellite should be able to replace five to six OKO satellites. The development of the satellites began in 2000. In 2007 the Russian government commissioned RKK Energija to build the first satellite. The first launch should take place in 2009, but was delayed until the end of 2015. The satellites should also carry secure emergency communication technology in the event of a nuclear war.
