The Elca computer science AG is the oldest and largest individual software manufacturers in Switzerland.
history
The company was founded in 1968 by a team of engineers from the ETH Lausanne under the name Electro Calcul. The first project involved the development of software to control the facilities of the Grande Dixence dam. The installation was the first system with computer-aided process control in Switzerland.
In 1990, Electro Calcul was renamed ELCA Informatique SA and ELCA Informatik AG. In the years that followed, ELCA strengthened its presence in German-speaking Switzerland by setting up a branch in Zurich.
The company has offices in Lausanne (headquarters), Geneva, Basel, Bern, Zurich, Paris, Madrid, Granada (nearshore development), Ho Chi Minh City and Mauritius (MUS) (offshore development), all of which are jointly based Working process framework.
With the establishment of the offshore production center in Ho Chi Minh City in 1998, international expansion began at the same time. The offshore center in Vietnam today has over 265 employees.
Since 2011 the company has been present in the “Quartier de l'Innovation” at the ETH Lausanne. In 2014 it was included in the Universum Top100 Employers in Switzerland. In 2019, the company was ranked 18th among the "most attractive employers" in Switzerland.
