Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária ( Embrapa ) is a Brazilian research institute. It develops technologies for Brazilian agriculture that reduce production costs, increase food production, conserve resources and the environment, and reduce dependence on external technologies, products and genetic material.

Embrapa was founded in 1973 and comprises 38 research stations, the headquarters are in Brasília . It reports to the Ministry of Agriculture and coordinates national agricultural research. Of the more than 8,000 employees, over 2,000 are scientists. The president is Pedro Antonio Arraes Pereira.
