Pickup model EMG 85

The EMG, Inc. is an American company based in Santa Rosa ( California ), the pickups for electric guitars and basses manufactures.

The company was originally called Dirtywork Studios and was renamed Overlend in 1978 . The current name dates back to 1983. The abbreviation EMG is derived from Electro-Magnetic Generator - all of the products bore this name.

overview

EMG pickups are installed ex works by various manufacturers, such as B. BC Rich , ESP , Jackson , Ibanez and many more. Active EMG pickups have a higher output than comparable passive pickups because they have a built-in preamplifier . This has made them popular with many metal and rock guitarists, as they overdrive the amplifier input far more than a weaker pickup.

In addition to the pickups, EMG produces various accessories for guitars and basses, mainly for changing the equalizer settings of the instruments, which are mainly tailored for use with the in-house pickups. Schecter , for example, provides almost all basses with complete EMG electronics.

Product range

EMG sells two different product lines. The Standard Series consists, apart from the HZ models of active pickups. A new addition is the "X-Series", a further development of the well-known pickups.

Etc.
