The EN 60601-2-13 titled "Electrical Medical devices - Part 2-13: Particular requirements for the safety of anesthesia systems," is part of the series of standards EN 60601 . The DIN standard DIN EN 60601-2-13 is published by the German Institute for Standardization .

The standard is based on the international version IEC 60601-2-13. Within the framework of the VDE standards, the standard is classified as VDE 0750-2-13 , see DIN-VDE standards part 7 .

This supplementary standard regulates general requirements for the safety, tests and guidelines of anesthesia systems.

validity

The German edition 5.2007 is accepted as a German standard from the date of its publication .

  • The current version (5.2007) is to be used in accordance with the 2nd edition of DIN EN 60601-1 .
  • No draft corresponding to the 3rd edition of DIN EN 60601-1 has yet been published.
  • The current edition is intended to partially replace EN 740. However, this can still be used until March 1, 2010.

scope of application

These special stipulations specify safety requirements, including the essential performance characteristics of anesthesia machines , which are intended for use in an anesthesia system.

This standard does not apply to:

  • Anesthesia systems designed for use with flammable anesthetic agents
  • Portable anesthesia systems for use in remote locations, for emergency operations outdoors or in disaster areas
  • Devices for dental analgesia .
