The EN 60601-2-14 with the title “Medical electrical equipment - Part 2-14: Special safety requirements. Devices for electroconvulsive treatment ”was part of the EN 60601 series of standards .

The German Institute for Standardization is the publisher of the DIN standard DIN EN 60601-2-14 .

This supplementary standard regulates general requirements for the safety, tests and guidelines of electroshock therapy devices .

The standard is no longer valid and no replacement is planned. It was withdrawn on December 1, 2005. No alternative norm is known.

The standard was to be applied with the 2nd edition of EN 60601-1 .

scope of application

Devices for use in neurology and by psychiatric doctors for the treatment of defined mental disorders. Its function is to attach two electrodes to the patient's skull under anesthesia and deliver pulses of electrical current until a controlled spasm is triggered.
