The eROCKIT is an electric light motorcycle that is operated like a bicycle. It belongs to a new type of vehicle. In contrast to a pedelec, there is no direct mechanical energy transfer from the pedals to the rear wheel. The vehicle is developed and produced by eROCKIT Systems GmbH under the direction of Managing Director Andreas Zurwehme. The design of the eROCKIT comes from Konstantinos Heyer.

Construction and approval

To drive the eROCKIT you step on the pedals. Pedaling controls the speed. A toothed belt transmits the pedal rotation to a generator, which generates a control voltage for the computer. The computer controls the power that is delivered to the electric motor. The electric motor transmits the power via a toothed belt with up to 75 Nm to the rear wheel. If you want to drive more slowly you stop pedaling. A motor brake feeds the braking energy back into the batteries. The eROCKIT is equipped with a disc brake at the front and rear. The range of one battery charge is 120 km, depending on usage behavior. The vehicle has 3 speed levels that limit the achievable speed. They are used for safety and help to save electrical energy. Level 1 allows up to 30 km / h, level 2 around 60 km / h and level 3 the maximum top speed of approx. 80 km / h. The rechargeable batteries can be charged at a normal 230 V socket after approx. 4 hours.

Since the vehicle is approved for road traffic as a light motorcycle, a class A1 driver's license or the old class 3 car driver's license is required .

Small batch production and bankruptcy

The small series production of the eROCKIT began in 2013 after the establishment of a small manufacturing company in Berlin-Marzahn with ten employees. The two-wheeler was sold directly and through dealers.

According to the official announcement of the Charlottenburg District Court (Berlin) under HRB 96906 B of June 12, 2014, eROCKIT GmbH, Berlin, Boxberger Str. 3, 12681 Berlin, has been dissolved due to the opening of insolvency proceedings pursuant to Section 60 (1) No. 4 GmbHG.

New start 2019

EROCKIT Systems GmbH acquired the brand and all rights to the vehicle and developed and produced the vehicle in production halls in Hennigsdorf near Berlin in Brandenburg. A team of international two-wheeler experts is working on the vehicle, which is due to go into series production in spring 2019. Production is supported by the state of Brandenburg. "We have set ourselves the goal of building the most interesting and best electric motorcycle of the future" explains Andreas Zurwehme, managing director of eROCKIT Systems GmbH in an interview. Richard Gaul, former head of communications at BMW, advises the company.
