Alex Dimitriades (born December 28, 1973 in Sydney , New South Wales ) is an Australian actor .

life and career

Dimitriades was born in Sydney to the first generation of Greek immigrants. He is the youngest of three siblings. Dimitriades grew up in the suburb of Earlwood in New South Wales. When he was twelve, his parents divorced.

Dimitriades began his career in 1993 in the Australian film Heartbreak Kid and the later resulting youth television series Heartbreak High , in which he played the role of Nick Poulos. In 1995 he played the underworld character of Warren Lanfranchi in the Australian drama series Blue Murder and in 1998 in Ana Kokkino's film Head On , Dimitriades played the protagonist Ari . His portrayal received critical acclaim and earned him a nomination at the AFI Awards. In 2001 he appeared in the Australian comedies Let's Get Skase and La Spagnola . He also took on roles in the Hollywood films Ghost Ship and Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo .

The Australian actor later appeared on numerous television series, including Wildside in 1997 and Young Lions in 2002 . He also had a guest role in the Australian soap Neighbors and in the science fiction series Farscape . He has also appeared in several theater productions, including two plays by Louis Nowra for the Griffin Theater Company, in 2004 in The Woman with Dog's Eyes and in 2006 in The Emperor of Sydney . He was also seen in The Nightwatchman in 2007 and in 2010 alongside Daniel Mitchell in Rainman . In 2008 Dimitriades played the role of an assassin in the television series Underbelly - War of the Underworld . In his current film Wog Boy 2: Kings of Mykonos , the sequel to The Wog Boy , Dimitriades plays the character of Mihali, a Mycenaean Mughal. In addition, he has just finished filming the film Summer Code .
