European strategy forum for research infrastructures

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (Engl. European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures ), ESFRI is a multidisciplinary forum for the member states of the European Union and associated countries in the field of research infrastructures . It was launched in 2002 by the EU Council of Research Ministers (Competitiveness Council). The forum usually meets quarterly and serves, among other things, to develop a research infrastructure roadmap. This contains research infrastructures in the fields of physics and engineering, environment, energy, health and nutrition, and cultural and social innovation. The European Commission has created with the help of ESFRI a new legal form for research infrastructures, the European Research Infrastructure Consortium, ERIC . The list of active ESFRI projects in the ESFRI Roadmap 2016 contains 21 projects and 29 landmarks.
