EURDEP

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European platform for the exchange radiological data , short EURDEP ( English European Radiological Data Exchange Platform ) is a system of the European Union for the collection, processing and presentation of data from the radiological environmental monitoring of Member States.

On the EURDEP platform, data from national measurement systems for monitoring environmental radioactivity, mostly in the form of local dose rates , are collected and displayed on interactive maps. Both in routine operation and during possible emergencies, data should be updated at least every hour. The data transfer is done automatically and is compatible with the format IRIX ( English International Radiological Information Exchange ) of the International Atomic Energy Agency .

The platform is part of the ECURIE system and was put into operation in 1995. In addition to the member states of the European Union, Albania , Iceland , Macedonia , Norway , Russia , Switzerland and Turkey participate in EURDEP on a voluntary basis. The Federal Office for Radiation Protection is Germany's national contact point and therefore responsible for data transmission .
