Tare flour
Tara gum (also Peruvian carob gum ) is a natural gelling and thickening agent.
For the production, the seeds of the tara bush ( Caesalpinia spinosa ) native to Peru and Ecuador are grated and ground. The resulting mass contains polysaccharides , which are indigestible for humans. It is considered a fiber with a digestive effect.
Tara gum is an approved food additive as E 417 , which has no harmful side effects for humans. Some sources only mention a concern for allergy sufferers.
The juice obtained from the seeds is called tare gum after it has solidified .
