Earl of Newburgh

Earl of Newburgh is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Scotland .

Award

The title was bestowed on December 31, 1660 for James Levingston, 1st Viscount of Newburgh . Along with the earliest dignity, he was awarded the subordinate titles Viscount of Kynnaird and Lord Levingston . On September 13, 1647, he had been awarded the title Viscount of Newburgh . In March 1628 he had inherited from his father the title of Baronet , of Kinnaird in the County of Perth , which had been awarded to this on June 29, 1627 in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia. In the absence of male descendants, the titles are also hereditary in the female line.

Presumed title heir ( Heiress Presumptive ) is the daughter of the current title holder Princess Benedetta Francesca Maria Rospigliosi, Mistress of Newburgh (* 1974).
