Earl of Norbury
Earl of Norbury , in the County of Tipperary , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Ireland .
Award
The title was awarded on June 23, 1827 to the Irish politician and lawyer John Toler, 1st Baron Norbury .
Subordinate title
Along with the earliest title, he was given the subordinate title Viscount Glandine , of Glandine in the King's County . Since his eldest son Daniel Toler was considered mentally ill, the two titles were awarded to him with the special addition that after his death his second son, Hector Graham-Toler , should inherit the title. As early as December 27, 1800, he had been awarded the title of Baron Norbury , of Ballycrenode in the County of Tipperary. At his death in 1831 his son Daniel inherited the barony, his son Hector the earldom and the Viscountcy. When Daniels childless death in 1832, Hector inherited him as 3rd Baron Norbury, and also as 3rd Baron Norwood , of Knockalton in the County of Tipperary. The latter title was on November 7, 1797, his mother Grace Toler , nee Graham, bestowed. All of the titles mentioned belong to the Peerage of Ireland and are still listed as subordinate titles to the respective earl.
