Earl of Portmore
Earl of Portmore was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Scotland .
The title was created on April 13, 1703 for David Colyear, 1st Lord Portmore and Blackness . Along with the earliest dignity, he was awarded the subordinate titles Viscount of Milsington and Lord Colyear . On June 1, 1699, he was awarded the title of Lord Portmore and Blackness . In 1685 he had inherited the title Baronet , of Holland, from his father Sir Alexander Colyear, 1st Baronet, which he had been awarded on February 20, 1677 in the Baronetage of England .
All five titles lapsed on the death of his great-grandson, the 4th Earl, on January 18, 1835.
