East Usk Railway

The East Usk Railway was a British railway company based in Newport in South Wales .

The company was founded on August 6, 1885. She took up the 20-year-old project of the "East Usk Railway & Docks" to build a 7.5 kilometer long railway line to a new port to be built on the east side of the Usk . In Somerton there was a connection to the route network of the Great Western Railway .

On June 28, 1892, the Great Western Railway took over the company and referred to the route as the East Usk Branch. The line was opened on April 4, 1898. In August 1901, the line was extended to Uskmouth . Today's two-lane line serves as a feeder to the Uskmouth power station .
