Ebrima Sillah

Ebrima Sillah (* 20th century) is a Gambian journalist. He has been Minister of Information and Communication in the Adama Barrow cabinet since June 2018 .

Life

Sillah, with a Masters degree in Mass Communication, worked as a correspondent for The Point , New Citizen , and Citizen FM radio station . He also worked as a correspondent for the BBC in Gambia. After reporting on a series of inexplicable disappearances and allegations of widespread torture of political prisoners, there was an arson attack that destroyed his home. The perpetrators were allegedly agents of President Yahya Jammeh . In August 2004, Sillah fled to Senegal , where he worked for the Al Jazeera broadcaster and other media companies, including radio and online services. After he had requested an investigation into two Gambian nationals who were allegedly abducted from Dakar, there should have been two attempts to abduct him to Gambia. He later lived in Nairobi for a few years .

On February 15, 2017, Sillah was appointed General Manager of the state broadcaster Gambia Radio & Television Service (GRTS) by President Adama Barrow , replacing Malick Jones in this position . He is tasked with reforming the station.

In a major cabinet reshuffle on June 29, 2018, he became Minister of Information and Communication in the Adama Barrow cabinet .
