Echostar 15 is a commercial communications satellite from the American EchoStar Corporation .
history
The satellite, which was ordered in April 2008, was brought into geostationary orbit on July 10, 2010 with a Proton-M launcher from the ILS launch from the Baikonur rocket launch site and is intended to replace the EchoStar 3 satellite launched in 1997 .
The three-axis stabilized satellite is equipped with 32 Ku-band transponders and is supposed to supply the USA with high-definition television programs from the Dish Network Corporation from position 61.5 ° West. It was built on the basis of the LS-1300 satellite bus from Space Systems / Loral (SSL) and has a planned service life of 15 years.
