Real cow-l! is the nationwide school competition of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL). He deals with the topic of organic farming and issues relating to sustainable agriculture and nutrition. The competition highlights a different topic every year - in the 2019-2020 school year everything revolves around climate change and climate protection in agriculture .

Pupils in grades 3 to 10 of all types of school can participate. "Really cow-l!" is based on the principle of action and experience-oriented learning. The first place winners of each age group go to the award ceremony in Berlin. Various cash prizes are available for projects across classes or years. The "Special Research Prize" is awarded for particularly scientific work with prize money of up to 600 euros.

The competition is a measure of the federal organic farming program . It ties in with the competition “ I find organic kuh-l ”, which ended in June 2012 .
