I find organic cow-l 2012

Bio find ich kuh-l was a nationwide school competition organized by the Federal Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection on everything to do with organic agriculture and organic products. The competition was a measure of the federal program for organic farming and other forms of sustainable agriculture and was carried out annually from 2003 to 2012. In total, over 30,000 schoolchildren took part in small groups or with their classes.

The students in grades 3 to 10 of all general education schools in four age groups were able to participate, grades 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and grades 9-10. The prizes awarded to each age group were the “Kuh-le Kuh” trophy in gold, silver and bronze, as well as an additional three-day trip to Berlin for the winner. For the other placements there were surprise boxes and small “thank you” prizes for all participants.

The pupils were invited to study organic farming by researching where organic products are made and sold in their area and under what conditions this is done. The aim was to achieve both a positive attitude towards organic products and a critical questioning of ecological and conventional agriculture. The contributions could be submitted in the form of articles, radio plays, video contributions or in another creative form. Every year there was also a special focus topic.

In the context of the school, such competition entries in the field of social studies, nutrition or biology could be used to motivate. All general education schools nationwide were therefore made aware of this campaign through brochures and posters.

The nationwide competition “I find organic kuh-l” went into the tenth and final round in 2012 under the patronage of Ruth Moschner . From October 2012 the competition Echt kuh-l! of Bio I find cow-l on.
