Eckard Reiss

Eckard Reiss (* 1941 in Frankfurt (Oder) , Germany ) is a German homeland researcher and telecommunications mechanic.

Life

Eckard Reiss' ancestors come from Silesia. He himself was born in Frankfurt (Oder). He attended the Pestalozzi School on Leipziger Platz (today Heinrich von Kleist High School), the Lutherschule in Chemnitzer Straße (today Peace School in Darwinstraße) and the Maxim Gorki School in Gubener Straße (today Friedrichsgymnasium) in Frankfurt (Oder). Eckard Reiss completed his training as a telecommunications mechanic at the post office in 1956. He practiced this profession until his retirement.

In his spare time, Eckard Reiss worked as a local researcher. He photographed, filmed and wrote articles and a book on local history topics. Eckard Reiss is a member of the Historical Association of Frankfurt (Oder) and editor of the club newspaper Mitteilungen - Historical Association of Frankfurt (Oder) eV

Eckard Reiß became known through his documentation of the Jewish cemetery in Frankfurt (Oder) / Słubice.

In 2017 Eckard Reiß was awarded the Leopold Medal of the Rotary Club Frankfurt (Oder).
