Eckhard Mieder

Eckhard Mieder (born May 9, 1953 in Dessau ) is a German journalist, writer and filmmaker.

Life

Mieder passed his Abitur in 1971 at the Alexander von Humboldt School in the Berlin district of Köpenick. After a year and a half of military service and a year of traineeship with the General German Intelligence Service, he studied at the Journalism section at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig. After eight years of working as an editor and reporter for the youth magazine Neues Leben and as an editor on East German television (1978–1986), Mieder became a freelance author.

Mieder turned to work in the media (radio and television) at an early age. He wrote some radio plays for the radio of the GDR, RBB, SFB, Deutschlandfunk and Radio Bremen, u. a. "Dreckfresser" (1995, Radio Brandenburg), "What is the case" (1998, SFB). For documentaries he worked as a dramaturge and scenarioist at DEFA. a. "... because everything moves, my friend" (1987), "In the passage" (1990). From the end of the 1990s he created a number of documentaries and features as a writer and director for Hessischer Rundfunk, ARD and ZDF, etc. a. "Deadly encounter - the life of Norbert Plath" (2001, ARD, with Sabine Mieder), "Heimatwege. Three-part documentary ”(2006, ZDF),“ Comrade Father - a GDR career ”(2009, ZDFneo),“ Steel, glass and old walls - on the construction site of the Eurobank am Main ”(2012, hr),“ The sloping tower from Frankfurt "(2015, hr).

Mieder was one of the co-founders of the weekly newspaper “die other” (1989/1990) and is a regular author of the biweekly Das Blättchen and the Untergrund-Blättle. He has been publishing with Edition Schwarzdruck since 2012, and with Verlag am park since 1997 .

He is married and has two daughters. After almost fifty years in Berlin , he moved to Frankfurt am Main with his family in 2002 .
